Welcome Beach Party - Monday, 9/26

Getting the week’s festivities off to a great start on Monday you are invited to the Welcome Party and Dinner on the beach near Old Fisherman’s Wharf.   Beginning at 4:00pm fun activities for humans and canines are planned, as well as a cash bar, dinner and S’mores. Plenty of paid parking and spots to crate your dogs are available at the site.  The games, kayak rides, mingle and sunset bonfire with S’mores are for all Specialty attendees.  Tickets for the buffet dinner will be sold in advance.

Breeder Development Seminar - Monday, 9/26

The featured speaker at this year’s Breeder Development Seminar on Monday afternoon will be Jane Killion (see www.puppyculture.com) speaking on Puppy Culture, raising healthy, happy, obedient puppies, whether you are a breeder or just thinking about getting your next PWD puppy.   There is a charge for attendance.

New Futurity/Maturity Program - Monday, 9/26

The former Futurity Stakes has now expanded into the Futurity/Maturity Stakes and this is the first time it will be offered.  In particular, there are some special one-time transitional registration rules that you should read carefully if you are thinking of entering.   If you have nominated a litter for Futurity in the past, it is highly possible that you may have a young PWD eligible to compete in the Maturity Stake.  Even if you are not entered, come out Monday morning to cheer for those that are in the sweepstakes.

See www.pwdca.org/futurity-maturity-program  for program details.

25th Anniversary Celebration - Wednesday, 9/28

Wednesday night’s festivities will highlight a celebration of 25 years of PWDCA National Specialties, 1992 to 2016.  The evening will feature a dazzling dinner party and a 25-year retrospective presentation by Maryanne Murray.   In addition, there will be a live auction of extraordinary items led by auctioneer George Ziemba.  Those of you who have heard Maryanne’s talks in the past and have experienced George’s wit and style at past auctions know that this will be a memorable and fun-filled evening.

4-6 Month Puppy Competition - Wednesday, 9/28

The new AKC 4-6 Month Puppy Beginner Competition (see www.akc.org/events/4-6-puppy) will be offered for the first time at a National Specialty.    You know you will be oohing and ahhhing at those cute little PWD puppies.
